OMG-update 2
It is a success!!! I have been able to recover ALL of my pictures. I was very afraid for a few days, but I have managed to get them all back. I lost all of the programs that I have saved over the lats few years, but they are all replaceable. I am just glad to know that all of my pictures are safe and sound. I can breathe again.
UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
I have been using a program called “Recover My Files”. It is a good program, but it is taking forever to complete. I am not wuprosed, since I am looking at recovering roughly 200GB (that’s GIGA-bytes) of files.
I am mildly pleased, since the program allows you to see partially recoverd sectors, and I am seeing pictures that we have taken in the last month or so. This means that I will “likely” get most or all of my pictures back.ORIGINAL POST
So I was trying to create a little more room for all of my pictures and music and what-not, when there was a catastrophic failure of my MFT (Master File Table). This is the file that tells the operating system where all of the other files on the Hard Drive are.
I am afraid that I may have lost all of my files. ALL OF THEM. Everypicture EVER taken by Jamie or myself, and EVERY movie made, and EVERY Song EVER put on the Hard Drive.
I am dong a recovery effort for the files, but it is not looking too good.
I am going to be sick if these files aren’t recoverable. The last time I backed up the pictures to our laptop was in August of 2005. Everything After that was backed up on my two hard drives on the desktop computer. Unfortunately, When I was repartitioning, I repartitioned both HDD, causing BOTH to become corrupt. I figured that if one went that at least there would be the other for purposes of recovery. I never imagined that BOTH would fail simultaneously!!!
